Joygun handwoven coat
The main body of the Joygun coat is made from pineapple leather from Philippines, in collaboration with the brand Piñatex. The bespoke jetted pockets are made with British vintage fabric from 1983.
The bottom panel of the coat is hand weaved by Joygun Nehar, our talented weaver from Bangladeshi heritage. The fibres of this panel are made from banana silk, rose fibre, nettle, indigenous organic undyed cotton and silk. The pattern of the weave is inspired by traditional Bangladeshi patterns found in sarees and soft furnishings.
The lining of the coat hand block printed with the symbol of the house of JaRafin: wheat. The wheat also represents the agricultural sector of Bangladesh.
